Social Dancing Has A Logic

Before anything else, we assume that there is a logic underlying social dancing and that it can be examined and reasoned about in an abstract way. This is an assumption that we cannot prove, but we take as a truth. We don't think that social dancing is pure emotion or instinct and that there is a structured system underneath it that can be discovered and analyzed. That is why it's the Zeroth Law, on which the rest of the lab's research builds.

With this belief, we can start applying various scientific and analytical methods to the study of social dancing. Mathematics, semiotics, computer science, physics, biomechanics, all of it can be used to understand and describe social dancing in their own ways.

In assuming that social dancing has a logic, we don't mean to reduce social dancing to only logic. There is emotional, artistic, and creative aspects to social dancing that are beyond logic. The magic of the dance will never go away, and parts of it can be studied and understood to make the rest of it even more magical.
